Spectacle Lenses
There is an extensive range of spectacle lenses available to meet the particular needs of each customer. At Eyetopia we can advise on the best lenses to suit you prescription, lifestyle and budgetary requirements.
Single Vision Lenses provide basic vision correction.
Bi-Focal Lenses provide correction for distance and near vision with the reading addition of a small lens in the main lens.
Multi Focal Lenses provide correction at a range of distances. They also look better as there is no line on the surface of the lens like bi-focals. Multi-focal lenses often require some adaptation on the part of the user but for many people it is the best solution for effective vision. These type of lenses are also sometimes known as progressive lenses.
Hi-index Lens Materials are more effective at focussing light for a given thickness. This means that people requiring higher corrections can have thinner and lighter lenses, improving their appearance and comfort. Hi-Index is available in all types of lenses.
Anti-Reflective Coating is an optional treatment to lenses. It effectively eliminates white reflection on the surface of a lens allowing better, more relaxed vision. The wearer also looks better as other people can see their eyes more naturally. AR coating is also sometimes known as multi-coating as it combined with hard coating to improve the durability of the lens.
Strong and Tough Lens materials are necessary with rimless or half rimless frames. These materials are available in all types of lenses from single vision to progressive and can be given multi-coating.
Photochromic Lenses have a variable tint that go dark outside in sunlight and then clear again when the wearer goes indoors. The change takes a few minutes. They do not go very dark in a car, so are not recommended as driving sunglasses. The most famous brand of photochromatic lenses is Transitions and it is available with all types of lenses and they can be multicoated.
