Everyone should have their eyes tested.

Effective vision is essential to a happy and healthy life for most people. A visit to the Optometrist at Eyetopia for an eye test is the first step of maintaining or improving your vision.

In an initial comprehensive consultation the Optometrist will test your vision by looking at a series of charts on the wall through equipment called a refractor. If you have a focussing error then spectacles will be prescribed. Spectacles correct this error and will allow you to see as sharply as possible.

The Optometrist will also examine your eye's health through special instruments, ask you about eye health history in your family and about your general health. This is to help to identify any ocular diseases that may affect your vision. Many of these conditions are more readily controlled if they are detected early. Additional tests may also be done at this time, or at a subsequent appointment.

Our Optometrist is endorsed to prescribe certain ocular therapeutic medicines. If  you have an eye condition that requires this type of treatment you will be given a prescription to take to a pharmacist.

Should a referral to an eye specialist for further diagnosis or action be required the Optometrist will do this for you, as well as send a report to your GP if it is appropriate.

Eye testing and examination is a comfortable and easy process. An initial consultation takes about twenty to thirty minutes. Should you need to choose spectacles we have a wide range of fashion and high quality frames, and latest technology lenses. This selection process may take about another twenty minutes or so.

Bulkbilled on Medicare.

General eye testing and examination can be bulkbilled on Medicare, so if you have a valid Medicare there is no direct cost to you. For those that do not have a valid Medicare card the fee is $57.10 (note fee may change, please confirm).

Note: Medicare does not generally pay for contact lens consultations. If you require services involving contact lenses you may be required to pay a fee. Please refer to the Contact Lenses
page for more information. If you do wear contact lenses it is best not to wear them for about two hours before your examination.

Call 9699 9188 to make an appointment. Eye tests are usually available six days a week.
